I thought I had updated much more recently than this.
Prince A: A's levels are much better. Last Thursday they were at 361,000. I'll be honest with you - he hasn't gotten prednisone in 2 weeks. Last week he was supposed to be on 5mg, this week he was supposed to be on 2.5mg. He seems to be doing well off the medicine, so I'm not concerned. If it suddenly drops on Thursday, I'll probably pick it back up at the 2.5 he's supposed to be having right now. His speech is improving a lot, although he's still hard to understand if you don't speak A-ese fluently. He fell off a chair yesterday; I asked him, "Are you ok?" He got up and responded, "I ok. I fall, I fall." His favorite phrase is, "I did it!" complete with jumping for joy.
Prince J: J is 4! He had a great time at his birthday, even though he decided on the 4th that he doesn't like fireworks after all. I had a good time too, which is almost better. 4 year old grumpings aren't as loud or frequent as my grumpings. We went with KV & D to Ollie's Station in Red Fork for J's birthday. They have several tracks of model trains that run around the ceiling. J still loves trains. He was all for having another train birthday party.
Prince D: D turned 9 last month. I was unhappy about his party, everything seemed to go wrong. But D had fun, so whatever. I'm not doing any more summer birthdays at the park, though.
D has been getting dental work this month. He had quite a few cavities filled (every other weekend when he's gone, he says he doesn't brush his teeth the entire time), one cavity drilled out and crowned (I believe this one had a filling in it last year that must have fallen out, because the previous dentist filled a molar last year and this one is the only possibility), and a baby tooth pulled so its adult counterpart could move forward. The dentist said he will definitely need braces in a few years. At least we're past his teeth grinding phase.
D had his pushcar derby race Monday with his cubscouts. I guess he was one of the last to register, because for a while they didn't know who his racing partner was - there were only kids in other, younger, ranks available. In the end, they partnered him with another kid (Bear rank, he is Webelos 1) about his size. The first race was a close call, they had a crash at the very end. The team they raced against I guess decided they weren't going to be able to win (even though D's team was behind right then), and they basically stopped bothering to steer. Their pushcar swerved right into D, who fortunately saw it coming and moved quickly enough to avoid injury. He was tripped, but not hurt. The officials decided they won the race because they kept going in their lane and didn't stop. I watched him do one more race, because I thought he only had 2 races (he only did 2 last year, but apparently it was because he was disqualified after his team lost their 2nd race) and Prince A was getting unmanageable. Very hot out, and a wildchild; not a good combination! They won their second race, NO PROBLEM. Prince A and I left to go home.
J, D and J came home a couple of hours later. I asked D how he did, and he got FIRST place! He got a nice little trophy. I'm so proud of him! J said D's team won ALL of their races - and they were the ONLY team that did that. Every one of the other teams lost at least twice. He did a great job. I told D that he did better this year because last year, his first race, he didn't know what he was doing because he didn't have the experience most of the other kids had. Plus, this year he's bigger and stronger than he was last summer.
Prince C: C's visiting! He's in town until the end of August, so we are hoping to get in some good time with him.
That's all for now.
